Text comparison
Compare two texts line by line; + and − mark changes.
Compare two texts line by line at the same line positions. Unchanged lines begin with two spaces, removed lines with a minus sign (−), and replacement or added lines with a plus sign (+). The comparison runs locally in your browser.
How to use
- Paste the original text into the first input.
- Paste the new text into the second input and run the comparison.
- Read the line prefixes, then copy or download the comparison.
Worked example
Example input
First text: apple pear Second text: apple peach
Example result
apple − pear + peach
Limitations and details
This is a positional line comparison, not a word diff or a minimal edit algorithm. Inserting a line can mark later lines as changed. Spaces and letter case matter; do not treat the output as a patch file.
